So-called “village idiot”, Francis Farnsworth Pfleuger, from Valleyview, invents something – really, it’s a someplace – that is beautiful and desired and much-loved by all: It’s a new town named Pfleugerville, where everything is beautiful, happy, perfect, and well, Utopian. Even the dogs are special. All of the Valleyview residents moved out and settled in Pfleugerville, leaving the old properties to be sold by Philip, a real estate agent. Philip discovers the what and the where Pfleugerville is located, thanks to his romantic interest in Judith, and the playful insistence of her dog, Zarathustra. What we learn about who is running the town will leave readers with an emotional surprise.I really like this short story. The plot is good, the author’s writing style is absolutely exquisite in his expressive descriptions, and the ending left me being surprised

The Servant Problem Robert F Young 9781444459890 Books Reviews
An okay story, and in the public domain, so you've not much to lose but your time.
An appraiser comes to a somewhat unsettling town, ready to give a value for the upcoming mass sale. Why is everyone selling? And why does everyone seem so terribly attached to their dogs?
I was expecting perhaps some horror here, but it's actually a fairly cute piece. And, as said, public domain, so you can find it not only in print, but recorded for free. I listened to the version by Protecting Project Pulp.
It's a short story written by such a great author. Look into all his other works, you won't be disappointed.
"Shall I compare the to a summer day ?"
Eehh? There is distubing story called "A subway called Möbius, by AJ Deutsch", read it. This is pure, unadultured 1950s. You think. The ending is predictable. Well, actually, since it is 1950s, it could, of course, have gone in one of two different directions, 180 degrees apart. But it does not.
Just read it.
