Wow, what a wonderful read! I am jealous now that I don't have any letters Dad wrote to Mom during the war years. Wade speaks so honestly and passionately of his love for Helen during the turbulent passage to Jensen(Inchon). His yearning is like the roll of the ocean. He passes his time by exercising so she can be proud of him. I love the day to day tidbits of ship life he includes. . . The daily books he reads, the nightly movies, complete with reference to plots and stars of the day, the gambling, the hopes he has for his future with his wife and their happy memories all balanced by the uncertainty of his role when he lands in Korea.The author(and son) provides an interesting counterpoint with his comments following certain passages.
This is a poetic and romantic true story.

These "Love Letters" hold a special place for me. They were written in a different time when a love letter was sometimes the only communication the young married couple had for months on end. Written in 1946 from my father to my mother and found again by my brother, they share a history of a 26 year old military man crossing the ocean on his way to Korea.
